Dan L. Sas is the owner, ballet master, teacher, director and choreographer of SAS School of Dance. Dan teaches all ballet levels in the Russian Vaganova method and also choreographs and directs all ballet productions for his school. Dan began studying ballet at the age of 9 at the School of Choreography and Art in Cluj, Romania. He began dancing professionally at the age of 17 and for the next 15 years, Dan worked for the National Opera House In Cluj, Romania as Soloist and then Principal dancer and performed in many countries across Eastern and Western Europe, Asia, Canada, and the US. Dan taught, choreographed and directed at the School of Choreography in Cluj, Romania. Currently, Dan also teaches at the Conservatory of Dance in Wilton, CT, The Hartt School-Hartford University in Hartford, CT, and The Connecticut Ballet in Stamford, CT. Alison Rose: Pointe and Ballet TeacherAlison Rose: Pointe and Ballet Teacher

 

Alison Rose Alison Rose began ballet lessons at the age of six and continued her dance training into adulthood. Alison studied many years with Dorothy Burdette, who for over two decades choreographed and directed Danbury Music Centre’s annual Nutcracker. In addition to many other roles in The Nutcracker, Alison was honored to perform the lead roles of Clara, Snow Queen, and Sugar Plum Fairy. She was also a member of the Danbury Ballet Company and performed in various different ballets at Richter Park. Alison also studied for many years with European soloist, Marthe Krueger, and continued her training at Hofstra University with Ali Pourfarrokh and Lance Westergard. Other influential teachers have been Muriel Stuart, Karen Festog, Dieter Riesle, and Dan Sas. Alison enjoys all dance forms and has also studied jazz, lyrical, modern, tap, ballroom, and flamenco. Alison is a CT state-certified teacher and has taught English in local secondary schools. She has been teaching ballet for seven years to students of various ages. Alison truly enjoys teaching and encourages all students to reach their full potential. She believes the art of ballet can help instill self-discipline and foster a sense of achievement and self-worth in her students that will carry over to other aspects of their lives.

Samantha Morrill recently completed her Bachelors Degree in Dance from Hofstra University, graduating in the Spring of 2012. Samantha began her training at the Academy of Dance Arts in Brookfield, Connecticut, where she is now a member of the staff. Samantha brings nineteen years of dance training in various techniques. She has had the pleasure of working with many distinguished choreographers including Doug Varone, Larry Kegwin, Robin Becker, Amy Marshall, and members of the Martha Graham company. While in college she interned with The Amy Marshall Dance Company in NYC. Some of her show credits include Pippin, Seussical the Musical, Beauty and the Beast and various dance performances. She is very excited to be part of the SAS family.

Erin Loucks has been singing and dancing professionally for fifteen years. After receiving her BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University, Erin lived in both NYC and Los Angeles, working professionally on both coasts. Favorite theatre credits include Into the Woods (Cinderella), The Last Five Years (Cathy), The Producers (Usherette), 42nd Street and Smokey Joe's Café. Last year, Erin directed a workshop of the new musical, Sticks & Stones at Theatreworks Kids in New Milford. She has choreographed a number of children's productions (most recently, Fiddler on the Roof at Beverly Hills High School), and has been dance captain for many professional shows. She also teaches dance and musical theatre at Graceful Planet in Sandy Hook. Erin moved to New Fairfield in 2014 with her husband, son and dog and is excited to be part of the SAS family!

Jenna Racca is a 16 year old high honors student at New Fairfield High School. She has been dancing for 13 years, with 5 years of training at SAS School of Dance. Jenna loves both ballet and contemporary and is also very passionate about teaching. In addition to her SAS training Jenna has attended both the American Academy of Ballet and the Pennsylvania Youth Ballet for summer intensives. She has been performing in the Danbury Music Centre's Nutcracker for the past 8 years and has performed featured roles such as Flower Court and Snow Court 1. She also performs in SAS's annual performances most recently as Kitri in Don Quixote. Jenna is very excited to be teaching Ballet-1 and to share her knowledge of dance with her students.

 

 

 

 

 

Taylor Bergstraesser: Ballet TeacherTaylor Bergstraesser: Ballet Teacher

 

 

Taylor Bergstraesser has been a ballet student at SAS School of Dance since 2009, and is also currently studying ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary at Ridgefield Conservatory. She is a member of both the Ridgefield Civic Ballet and Contemporary Dance Ensemble. In addition, Taylor has attended summer programs with the Orlando Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet-NYC, the French Academie of Ballet, Kaatsbaan Extreme Ballet, Koltun Ballet and the Rock School. Over the past two years Taylor has competed in the Connecticut Classic Ballet Competition, placing 2nd in the Junior Division and 5th in the Senior Division, receiving a merit scholarship to The Hartt School both years. She has had the honor of training with experienced ballet masters, including Maria Calegari, Bart Cook, Martine van Hamel, Francois Perron, Alexandra Koltun and Dan Sas. Taylor has also participated in the Danbury Music Centre Nutcracker for 10 years, most recently dancing the roles of Dew Drop and Sugar Plum Fairy. Taylor is very excited to be able to share her love and knowledge of dance with her students.

 

 

 

 

Matt Mulvey: Irish Dance TeacherMatt Mulvey: Irish Dance Teacher

Matt Mulvey Matt Mulvey, TCRG attended his first dancing class at the age of ten in Newtown, CT. Quickly realizing his love for Irish dancing, he was then introduced to Philip Owens and Terry Gillan to help make his dancing dreams into a reality. Three years later, Matt went on to qualify for his first World Championships, placing 4th at the 2004 New England Oireachtas. This marked the start of his steady climb to on achieving his dancing goals. After consistently placing in the top 5 in solos and teams, and placing as high as 12th at the North American's, he finally achieved one of highest accomplishments by winning the men's championships at the New England Oireachtas in 2009 and later in 2011. He retired from competitive dancing in 2013 with a solo recall at the World championships and a world medal alongside his Senior Mixed Ceili Team. The following September, Matt successfully passed the TCRG exam and became a certified dancing instructor registered under An Comisiun le Rinci Gaelacha. In September 2014, Matt was given the incredible opportunity to join the SAS School of Dance by offering Beginner Irish Dancing lessons to students ages 3+. Matt graduated from Western Connecticut State University in December 2014, earning a Bachelors of Science in Health Promotion and Exercise Science. Matt is currently employed by the Western Connecticut Health Group as a Patient Access Liaison at Danbury Hospital.
